There is a second collection at Masses in the diocese this weekend (March 11/12) to fund the work of working groups set up by the Irish Bishops’ Conference.
These are known as Bishops’ Commissions and they are involved in an array of activities in Ireland and abroad which provide leadership, formation, pastoral care and ministry to the People of God.
Each commission is served by lay people (who are paid) as well as by clergy and religious.
They are:-
- Catholic Education and Formation
- Pastoral Care
- Planning, Communications and Resources
- Social Issues and International Affairs
- Worship, Pastoral Renewal and Faith Development
